The EVOLTREE Governing Board took place in Uppsala (Sweden) in September 2011 after the EFI scientific seminar devoted to Forest Genomics.
17 institutes out of 23 were represented at the meeting. The two main objectives of the meeting were:
- adopt the new consortium agreement (ERG document)
- take decisions about the functioning (membership, nomination of the coordinator institute and the Executive Committee Member, adoption of the budget 2012).
New consortium agreement
The new EVOLTREE consortium is composed of 23 members from 13 European countries. It is now integrated within the European Forest Institute (EFI), which facilitates the EVOLTREE Network.
EFI was launched in 1993, and has currently 125 member organisations from 36 countries. The organisations include research institutes, universities, non-governmental organisations, and industries. EFI has its headquarters at Joensuu in Finland, as well as 5 regional offices in Europe. The EFI's 5 key activities are networking, research, information, advocacy and policy report. Apart from appointing and employing the EVOLTREE administrator in charge of the administration, organisational matters and the financials of the network, EFI will take part in the EVOLTREE communication and networking activities.
The Governing Board adopted the consortium agreement (ERG), which has now been signed by all partners. The ERG document is available at here.
Activities
The on-going Networking activities were presented: e-Lab (Silvia Fluch, AIT), the Intensive Study Site (ISS) (Egbert Beuker, METLA), dissemination (Barbara Vinceti, BIOVERSITY) and training (Antoine Kremer, INRA). The importance of the dissemination and the training (especially summer schools) were particularly underlined. Furthermore, the new EU projects regarding genetics and genomics of trees: project Trees4Future (Silvia Fluch, AIT), ForGer (Bernd Degen, vTI) and FoResTTraC and its outputs (Antoine Kremer, INRA) were described. The minutes as well as the presentations of the meeting are available here.
