Forest ecosystem genomics and adaptation
The aim of this international conference is to present new scientific findings in the area of ecosystem genomics, which addresses the structure and evolution of gene diversity at the population and community level. The conference will focus on the function and diversity of genes of adaptive significance in the context of climate change. Adaptation of forest ecosystems will be analyzed from an evolutionary perspective and illustrated by examples on trees and their associated species.
The conference is a joint event co-organized by EVOLTREE research partners. The event is open to the wide scientific community and has in its programme a dedicated sessions for policy makers and forest practitioners, where the implications of research findings to formulating relevant policies and implementing sustainable forest managed will be discussed.
The conference is organized in the beautiful venue of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, 49 Km from Madrid by road and located at 1,000 meters of altitude. The place is one of the former royal residences and owes its fame to the Monastery of San Lorenzo el Real, built by King Felipe II. The building gives an overall impression of grandeur and austerity that has never been equaled and together with several other attractions makes it well worth a visit.
