The consortium is composed of three institutions: Uniwersytet Kazimierza Wielkiego (KWUB, Bydgoszcz), Instytut Badawczy Lesnictwa (IBL, Warszawa) and Instytut Dendrologii Polska Akademia Nauk (IDPAN, Kórnik).

The competences of these institutions are population and quantitative genetics, phyllogeography, molecular biology and analysis of spatial genetic data. They are specialized in modelling of contemporary gene flow and mating patterns, including ecological and genetic determinants of reproductive success, observed at different life stages. Other aspects include: genetics of mycorrhizal fungi and tree ecophysiology (e.g. physiological reaction of trees to stress factors). The group has founded and manages a number of provenance and family trials for major forest tree species and established a strong collaboration with State Forests.

The key persons involved in the NoE are:

Jaroslaw Burczyk
(KWUB) is head of the Department of Genetics, and professor of University of Bydgoszcz. He has a strong expertise in population genetics, mating systems andgene flow in plants.

Barbara Kieliszewska-Rokicka (KWUB) is professor at Kazimierz Wielki University, Bydgoszcz, and Head of of Department of Mycology and Mycorrhiza.

Maria L. Rudawska (KWUB) works in Institute of Dendrology Polish Academy of Sciences. ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ), She is Professor and Head of Department of Mycorrhizal Research.

Jan Kowalczyk (IBL) has competence in quantitative genetics research of forest trees. He participated in a training course „Advanced training in forest gene menagement” organized by G. Namkoong (UBC Vancouver).

Justyna Nowakowska (IBL) is a senior researcher. She graduated form University Louis Pasteur, Institute of Plant Molecular Biology Strasbourg, France. Since 1999 she is employed in IBL Warsaw.

Andrzej Lewandowski (IDPAN) is the vice director of the Institute of Dendrology. He has a long experience in genetic diversity and phyllogeographyof forest trees.
