EVOLTREE is 20 years old!

Evoltree was created as a Network of Excellence, a new research support instrument established under the 6th Framework Program (2002-2006) by the EU. The Networks of Excellence aimed for the “sustainable integration” of European research capabilities, meaning they were intended to survive beyond the EU financial support. Of the 170 networks created under the 6th Framework Program (across all disciplines) that were intended to continue in some form, only a few have managed to maintain a sustainable and recognizable structure by securing self-financing. Evoltree is one of them.

Without invoking a Darwinian process, Evoltree has survived this selective filter created by the drying up of EU funding. Moreover, it has firmly established itself in the European landscape thanks to the research community it has patiently helped to build and strengthen. This successful natural regeneration has now allowed it to enter its prime, when the best fruits are produced!

Long live Evoltree!
