EVOLTREE: NEW YEAR, NEW TERM, NEW HORIZONS

"New" is the operative word for EVOLTREE as 2014 draws to a close and the Network of Excellence gets ready to embrace its new exciting term. Plenty of new things are in store for the network...

Agreement renewal: The European Research Group Agreement is being renewed for the new term. This entails the signing of the document's addendum by the members, thus committing themselves to the new period.

New members: The network is welcoming 12 new partners, a large majority of which come from eastern Europe. This brings the number of partners to 34 research organisations.

New projects: The open source project, TreeType, for the widespread collection of data on some simple phenotypic traits for European trees will be launched by EVOLTREE in January. The network will also be involved in FORESTING, a networking research infrastructure for forest ecosystem and resources research in Environmental and Earth Sciences. And EVOLTREE will endeavour to increase its involvement in EU projects.

New types of training activities: No longer limited to summer schools, now EVOLTREE partners will organise different types of training activities and workshops all year round. All members can benefit from financial support for these courses.

New ISS: A new Intensive Study Site in Spain will be added to the seven already existing ones. Mobility grants are available for the community at large to carry out research on these sites.

New communications drive: A new communications strategy will be drawn up. It will include an increase in EVOLTREE's  involvement in and organisation of scientific seminars and conferences and the partners being active in promoting the network.

New website: Take a look around this new website and find out more about EVOLTREE and its activities.
