The summer school was of great help for improving my scientific writing and understanding the core elements of scientific papers. The reason why I wanted to attend this summer school was because I am still a fresh PhD student and everything new I learn is contributing to my PhD thesis and my future work as a researcher. My two colleagues, Mia Marušić and Doroteja Bitunjac, and me arrived at NC Planica the first day of the school and were surprised by the nice welcome as well as the beautiful scenery around the hotel. At our first lectures we were greeted by our lecturer Reinhart Ceulemans (Professor Emeritus of Ecology at the Department of Biology, University of Antwerp and an expert scientist at the CzechGlobe Institute in Brno, Czech Republic) who explained to us what to expect from this summer school and hoped for us to learn something new. The lectures through the week always brought something new to our knowledge about scientific papers and how they should be properly written. Professor Reinhart Ceulemans was easy to follow even though I had only a small amount of experience writing papers. Every lecture was filled with information about different parts of scientific papers including: general structure and strategy, outline, backbone and types of papers, organization of ideas, building contents, graphs and tables, writing and check lists, style and English language, review papers and poster structure and accessibility. We also had homework which was done individually or in a group. This homework made us think about different scientific papers and which of them are better depending on the things we learned in the lectures. Since I am just a beginner in the world of scientific writing this summer school corrected some of the mistakes I have been doing while writing seminars and papers in the first year as a PhD student. Including the new knowledge I attained at this summer school, I also met other 11th Summer School on Scientific Writing, Reviewing, and Publishing Planica, Slovenia 2023. researches and scientists from different European countries with who I could discuss about their projects and scientific papers.
