“Receiving the Evoltree Grant has allowed me to travel from Scotland to Switzerland to participate in the Genomics of Environmental Adaption five-day winter school. This course helped me improve my decision-making skills when analyzing genomic and environmental data sets and creating new experimental designs. The topics covered included population structure, local adaptation, outlier analysis, genotype-environment associations, and genome-wide association studies. We also compared various models and discussed their benefits and drawbacks. The code provided was clear, well-annotated, and easy to follow. We started with an introductory lecture which covered key topics such as genomic markers and NGS techniques, ensuring that we had a solid foundation for the rest of the course. Throughout the week, there was a lot of discussion between students and teachers, creating a dynamic and engaging atmosphere. I would highly recommend this course to anyone with a relevant interest in the field.”
